The book includes a chapter by Ty Lettau called Reacting to Sound which
uses amplitude values generated with FlashAmp. There are quite a few
Flash examples in the chapter and, thanks to Ty Lettau and friends of
ED, we're pleased to be able to offer a couple of these online as examples
of what can be done with FlashAmp. Not only that but Ty and friends
of ED have also been kind enough to allow us to provide a complete PDF
of the chapter and all Flash source code (see the Download links below).
The first example (C_01.fla) is a dancing stick figure. It makes clever
use of amplitude values to trigger the joints of the figure to make
it dance in time with the music. Click the image below to view this
example.

The second example shows a simple moving waveform made
by duplicating movieClips. The code used is simple and easy to follow
and it's a good example of how easy it is to use FlashAmp data to produce
great results. Click the image below to view this example.

Use the links below to download a PDF of Ty Lettau's Reacting
to Sound chapter from Fresh Flash as well as complete Flash
source code for all the examples used in the Chapter. Thanks again to
Ty Lettau and friends of ED for making this resource available.
Please note that Ty used FlashAmp 1 to generate the amplitude
values used in the examples. The FlashAmp 1 output file format was intended
for use with the Flash loadVariables() function and Ty explains how
to convert the output files into a form that can be used with a Flash
#include statement instead. FlashAmp 2 can output files for use with
the #include statement so the file conversion steps described in the
chapter are not required if you're using FlashAmp 2.

Have a look at some of the other stuff that Ty Lettau
has produced with FlashAmp and you should
definitely check out his Sound
of Design site as well.
There is a lot of other really fascinating Flash work
in the Fresh Flash book and it's still very relevant now even
though it was written for Flash MX. We highly recommend it. See the friends
of Ed site for more information.
